More likely than not, you’ll find Petra, founder of Petra Design, stapling new fabric on seat cushions, hanging artwork, or nose-deep in CAD drawings. But don’t let the paint-spattered overalls fool you, Petra has 20 years of experience designing luxury hotels, restaurants, and residences worldwide. She honed her skills at several prestigious interior design firms in New York City, including Michael Graves & Associates, Jeffrey Beers International, and Champalimaud Design. She’s worked on notable projects such as the Augusta National Golf Club, St. Regis, Cairo, Fontainebleau, and the St. Regis, Jakarta. Her hands-on approach, coupled with her impressive background, allows Petra to combine her architectural expertise with an interior designer's gift for materials and furnishings. And as a mom of two, she understands how to design a space for maximum stain resistance and longevity.
Petra grew up in Stillwater, Minnesota, and is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin – Madison. She received her Interior Design degree from the Interior Designers Institute in Newport Beach, California. She is certified by the National Council for Interior Design (NCIDQ) which is the industry’s recognized indicator of proficiency.
AMELIA HESKETH, designer
Amelia’s love for interior design began as a child, constantly rearranging her bedroom, using allowance to buy new bedding, and fashioning artwork out of magazine covers. Putting her hobby to the side, she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and her professional life took the route of working in the mental health field as a Registered Nurse for 15 years. Longing for more creativity in her life, a career change brought her back to where her heart belonged in Interior Design. In Sydney, she made a name for herself in the revival of mid-century homes, carefully blending modern-day functionality with authentic period details. A move to New York offered her a chance to spread her creative wings even further, and she's found her new home at Petra Design Studio.
As a mom of three, Amelia knows all about the complexities and joys of family life. She brings this nuanced understanding to her work, striving to create homes that families are not just proud of, but genuinely enjoy living in. Utilizing texture and color in ways that are both fun and sophisticated, Amelia loves helping her clients turn their houses into homes that they adore.
Amelia holds a Bachelor of Nursing Degree from Christchurch Polytechnic in New Zealand and a Certificate IV in Design and Interior Decoration from the International School of Design in Sydney, Australia. Originally hailing from New Zealand, her international experience brings a unique, global touch to every project.
